Maestro Steven Allen Fox is an innovative conductor, concert creator, composer, educator and copyist who has a passion for dramatic music; particularly film, television and video game scores presented on the concert stage. Recently Steven had the privilege to conduct "Disney's The Little Mermaid Live in Concert" with the San Francisco Symphony. He also was the Assistant Conductor for the World Premieres of "Beauty and the Beast," “The Little Mermaid Live in Concert “ and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Live in Concert," all at the famed Hollywood Bowl. In 2015 Steven was hired by Walt Disney Music to conduct the World Premiere of Disney’s “A Silly Symphony Celebration,” as part of the D23 Convention in Anaheim, California. 

With the Golden State Pops Orchestra, which Steven founded in 2002, he has had the privilege to be Principal Conductor for "The Magnificent Movie Poster World of Drew Struzan" at Royce Hall, the Varése Sarabande 35th Anniversary Concert Gala International Kickoff in Los Angeles, "A Spoonful of Sherman: A Symphonic Concert," and the Principal Conductor for the Varése Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween and Holiday Galas. Due to the 35th Anniversary gala in 2013 he was invited to be a Guest Conductor for the international film music festival “Fimucité” in Tenerife, Spain.

Steven has had the opportunity to work with some of the most influential composers, artists and production companies in the industry, conducting on such world-renowned stages as Davies Symphony Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Microsoft Theatre (formerly Nokia), Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Auditorio de Tenerife, San Diego Civic Theatre, the Warner Grand Theatre, Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Paramount Studios and Skywalker Sound. Notable professionals Steven has worked with or shared the stage with include Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, Richard Sherman, Thomas Newman, John Debney, Michael Giacchino, Bear McCreary, Christopher Lennertz, Christopher Tin, Christopher Young, John Ottman, Robert Folk, Michael Kosarin, Russell Brower, Sam Spence, Stu Phillips, Tommy Tallarico and Robert Townson.  In addition, he has shared the stage with performers Kelsey Grammer, Zooey Deschanel, John Stamos, Rebel Wilson, Taye Diggs, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Shoshana Bean, Tina Guo, Susan Egan, Cecilia Tsan, Alyssa Park, Sara Andon, JR Richards, the rock band Dishwalla, Barbara Morrison, and Dave Lombardo from the rock band Slayer. Steven has been seen interviewed on Fox News in San Francisco, Spanish television in Tenerife, LA Business Today, El Segundo TV and on the South Bay Show.

Steven founded the Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) to be a year round pops orchestra that brings the dramatic music he loves to the concert stage; since then, the GSPO has gained international acclaim, drawing fans to L.A. from across the country and world.  Via the Golden State Pops, Steven has gained a reputation as a “premiere” conductor, having produced over 100 world or North American concert premieres, and himself conducting premiere performances of a suite from “Avatar,” “Battle of the Heroes” from “Star Wars: Episode III,” a suite from “Lost,” “Disney in Concert: Tale As Old As Time,” "Ghost Rider Suite" by Christopher Young, Bernard Herrmann's 1954 television broadcast, "A Christmas Carol," “Variations for Piano and Orchestra” by Stu Phillips and a suite from “Captain Abu Raed” by Austin Wintory. Other ensembles that Steven has had the privilege to lead include the San Francisco Symphony, the orchestra for Video Games Live, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Brass, the City of Prague Philharmonic, Inland Valley Symphony, the Coachella Valley Symphony, Lake Havesu Orchestra, the El Segundo Concert Band, Vintage Brass Band and Sharp Sounds Big Band. He has also conducted recording sessions for the video game “Dungeon Siege III”, the film “To Save a Life,” television production “Tokyo Control,” a promo for the television show “Alias,” and the EMI CD release, “50 Most Loved Christmas Carols.”

As a composer, Steven has created scores to corporate videos for PIMCO and Jet Litho Printing, multiple feature length films and multiple film shorts, including the award winning animated short “The Artist.” In addition to many concert works for orchestra, band and chamber ensembles, Steven arranged the song “Ease the Moment” for alternative rock band Dishwalla and arranged 25 songs for the holiday CD, “50 Most Loved Christmas Carols.” As a copyist he has had the honor of working on many A-list filmscores and concert music such as "Star Wars Episode VII and VIII," "The Greatest Showman," "Orville," "La La Land," "The Post," "Cars 3," "The Jungle Book," "Star Wars in Concert," "Raiders and the Los Ark in Concert," and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind in Concert."

A piano and trombone student from an early age, Steven found inspiration to go into the music business at the age of 13 while watching Steven Spielberg's “Hook;” he would forevermore hold John William's brilliant score to this film responsible for drawing him into a career in music. Steven brought this newfound passion to his first composition, “Vertigo” for solo piano, as well as every performing ensemble he joined, including the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree in Music Theory and Composition from Illinois State University (ISU) and a Graduate Certificate in Film and Television Scoring from the University of Southern California (USC). In 1999 Steven and his wife Leslie moved to Los Angeles where he keeps a busy schedule conducting, composing music, educating and helping raise three daughters.

As an educator Steven has been a lead instructor at the South Bay Music Symposium for ten years, led his own conducting seminar for three years, and was the Director of Bands for El Segundo High School for eleven years.  Previously he spent two years as the Music Director for the Torrance Area Youth Band and two years as the Music Director for the Southeast Civic Light Opera.
